The Yacht Club of Syros organizes SYROS RACE 2010 in Ermoupolis
from the 1st to the 5th of September 2010.
NOTICE OF RACE
- RULES
- 1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing.
•1.2 The International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea will replace the rules of part 2 from sunset to sunrise.
- 1.3 The ISAF Offshore Special Regulations Governing Offshore Racing 2010-2011 for monohulls cat.4 will apply.
- 1.4 IRC rule 26.1.5 (e) is changed as follows: A spare mainsail may be on board but shall not be used during a race unless there is serious damage to the mainsail.
- ADVERTISING
Boats may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the organizing authority
- ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
- 3.1 The regatta is open to:
- a. IRC 1 boats, with TCC higher than 1,055
- b. IRC 2 boats, with TCC between 0,950 and 1,055
- c. ORC boats. Classes will be formed according to the entries
- 3.2 Eligible boats may enter by completing the attached form and sending it, together with the required fee, to the secretariat of the Yacht Club of Syros by the 31st of July 2010.
- 3.3 Late entries will be accepted from the 1st to the 30th of August 2010 with a 50% penalty on the entry fee.
- FEES
Required fee for each boat is € 10 x hull length according to her rating certificate.

The prize giving will be held as soon as possible after the last race
6. MEASUREMENTS
Each boat shall produce a valid rating certificate not later than the 1st of September 2010 with an issue date not later than the 30th of August 2010.
The Race Committee may inspect the boats between 10:00 hours on the 1st of September and two hours after the finish of the last race of the regatta.
•7. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
The sailing instructions will be available at the secretariat upon registration
•8. VENUE
The races will be held in the area around Syros.
•9. THE COURSES
The following types of courses may be sailed:
- Windward - Leeward
- Triangle course
- Coastal course, not longer than 20 nm
- Offshore course with scoring gate, longer than 30 nm
Details on the courses will be given in the sailing instructions
•10. PENALTY SYSTEM
Rule 44.1 is changed so that the Two-Turns Penalty is replaced by the One-Turn Penalty
•11. SCORING
- 11.1 Three races are required to be completed to constitute a series.
- 11.2 When fewer than five races have been completed, a boat's series score will be the total of her race scores.
- 11.3 The sub-class ranking will be taken from each class ranking. Sub-classes will be announced prior to the skipper's meeting.
•12. BERTHING
Boats will be berthed at the facilities of the Yacht Club of Syros in the harbor of Ermoupolis. Berths are available also before and after SYROS RACE
•13. PRIZES
Prizes will be awarded to the winners of each racing day and to the first three boats of the general classification for each of the classes. Additional prizes may be awarded at the discretion of the organizing authority.
•14. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.
•15. INSURANCE
Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with the cover required by the Greek law. Proof of the cover shall be submitted at the regatta secretariat at registration.
•16. RIGHT TO USE NAME AND LIKENESS
In participating in the SYROS RACE, a competitor automatically grants to the Organizing Authority and the sponsors of the race, the right in perpetuity, to make, use and show, from time to time and at their discretion, any motion pictures and live, taped or film television and other reproductions of him/her during the period of the competition for the said SYROS RACE in which the competitor participates and in all material related to the said SYROS RACE without compensation.
